For the fifth year in a row, applications have increased for schools offering a nursing degree according to American Association of Colleges of Nursing. Unfortunately this continuing increase still can’t keep up with the demand as over 32,000 students were turned away.

Last year, the U.S. Department of Labor reported Registered Nursing as the top occupation in terms of job growth through the year 2012. According to the latest projections from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than one million new and replacement nurses will be needed by 2012.

Students are either looking for other careers or looking for other schools. One resource that many students are finding helpful is the website www.best-nursing-degree.info . In many cases students are finding out about nursing programs within their area, but offered by schools other than their closest public university.

One option that is growing in popularity is the accelerated bachelor nursing degree. This program allows students with a bachelor’s degree in a different field to obtain a BSN in 12 to 18 months. This program has grown from 31 schools in 1990 to 168 today. The program is intense with 40 hours of class and lab time per week plus study time. There are usually no breaks between terms either. The cost is steep as well–$30,000 but many students are able to qualify for grants and loans.

At the other end of the spectrum are part-time students that are looking to change careers or need to work full-time. These students take one or two classes per semester and will take several years beyond the standard 4 to complete their degree.

The payoff? Starting salaries from $45,000 and up. There is of course more advancement to the levels of nurse practitioners and graduate degrees.

With demand continuing to outpace supply, all types of students that are interested in the field are encouraged to begin pursuing a nursing degree by viewing the resources at www.best-nursing-degree.info

Online education is gaining popularity all across the globe. Students can access the lessons, tutorials and other related learning materials directly from the Web, at any time of the day, without having to spend time commuting. The message boards and chat rooms can successfully create an atmosphere similar to a real-time classroom.

An online university degree is worthless if it is not accredited. Accreditation of the educational programs is done to help establish the reputation of the concerned institution with respect to the quality of education it offers. It is offered after a thorough review of the institute, and given only if it satisfies the specified norms.

If you plan to find work using your degree, it is imperative that you get it from an accredited university, as the employers give preference to education received only by accredited institutes. In fact, even if you want to continue your education, you will have a hard time getting accepted by other universities or professional associations if your earlier degrees are not from accredited sources.

The most popular and recognized university accreditations are from the regional accreditation boards in the U.S. Even prestigious universities like Harvard and Princeton are regionally accredited. Hence, when people talk about an accredited university in the U.S., they are referring to a regionally accredited university. All states have a non-governmental, regional agency that looks after and accredits schools.

These boards are equally ranked and carry equal preference while stamping the authenticity of a university. Any one regionally accredited college will recognize the degree and credits earned at other regional accredited institution. Therefore, if you complete a course from one regionally accredited college, like the University of Illinois, you can easily enroll in a degree program of any other regionally accredited university.

Without accreditation, any sub-standard online university can open shop overnight. Actually, there is no need to join an unaccredited university online as there are numerous prestigious accredited universities waiting for your registration.

Consider the advantages to an online LPN nursing program. Those that are looking for this type of nursing program can find just what it is that they need offered throughout the various online educational institutions. There are many that specialize in nursing education and can provide the highest level of education and personal experience. If you are looking for a method of educating that will take you to the career that you want to have, consider these advantages to an online LPN nursing program.

-Time. You can save time by taking your LPN nursing program courses on the web. The classes are available for you at your time, not when they are scheduled to meet. Sometimes they are available for you to take several in one day while other times you are sure to find a method for stretching it out. Your time is yours here.

-Cost. Often, an online nursing program will cost you much less than that of a traditional school. For example, you do not have to pay for your dorm room and you will get most of your textbooks on the web as well. Tuition costs are often lower.

-Learning your way. Another opportunity for you to excel when it comes to online nursing programs is that you can learn in the method that fits you. Those that do not do well in a traditional school environment can find their own personalized method of help through self study. Often times this means that they can not only take their time, but study the course work as it fits their needs.

-Personalization. Did you know that you will likely be working directly with a professor, who will grade your work and help with your questions? You can reach them over the phone, online through email or through live chats. If you are really looking for a personal method of communication, live web cams can be used as well.

These are just some of the advantages to an online LPN nursing program.

For those in need of completing nursing CEU credits, online options may be a new area. This introduction to the online nursing CEU will help you get started in your research of online CEU options.

State Requirements

An introduction to the online nursing CEU would not be complete without a mention of state requirements. Before you choose a CEU program, first determine if your state requires specific CEU credits. Many states do require these as new health care issues arise. Before you spend time and money on other CEU programs, first determine if you need a specific program, and then you can research to see if the required CEUs are available through an online program.

Variety of Options

No introduction to the online nursing CEU would be complete without a mention of the many options from which to choose! If you have met your state’s requirements and are looking for CEU options to further your career or to learn more about a particular area of health care, look no further than online! Regardless of your interests and career goals, you can find a CEU program. Again, ensure that your state licensing body will accept the credits before enrolling.

Costs

As soon as you begin researching online nursing CEU options, you will see that many CEU programs are free. Others are quite expensive. Some of the differences are the number of CEU credits offered by the program. Free CEU courses can be quite good, but as with all CEU credits, some research into the provider and your state’s acceptance of the credits is necessary. This holds true for expensive programs as well! A pricey course does not guarantee its quality nor that it will be accepted by your state.

Where to Look

As a professional nurse, you’re likely involved with one or more professional organizations. Contacts through these organizations can be a great way to learn about online CEU options and to talk with others who have completed the courses. Ask others for their opinions about any courses you are considering.

To learn more about attending an online nursing CEU, Amanda Jones recommends Nursing Degree Guide. Please see http://www.nursingdegreeguide.org/articles/online_nursing/how_to_earn_your_degree_from_an_online_nursing_ceu.php for more information.

Students can sometime become overwhelmed with class work and assignments which could cause great deviancies in their grades. Students should know the avenues and routes that they can take to assist in addressing problems in academics before they become horrendous.

1. If you realize at some point that you may fail or are failing a class it is best to address this issue with the instructor or professor to determine what can be done at that point.

2. If a student is barely passing a class he or she may want to be withdrawn (WN) or (W) from the class by the professor and receive and (I) grade which indicates they are currently in good standing but are subject to receiving a failing grade.

3. If students choose to follow the information above (2) they can later complete the coursework and still get a good grade if they are at least passing the course at the time of the withdrawal, but subject to failing if they continue.

4. Students should realize that an “F” grade will cause substantial damage even to a GPA of 3.00 or better, so it is better to withdraw or drop the class than to receive a bad grade.

5. See an academic advisor to assist them in class selection to help insure student is not taking a heavy load of classes that may be detrimental to them during the semester.

6. Develop continuous contact with your instructor from beginning to end of the semester which provides a good relation with you and your instructor.

Many students often struggle in selecting a topic for their post college admission essays, including MBA essays (or graduate school admission essay) as part of the requirements in gaining admission to a school of their choice. In most cases, the school itself will present a topic(s) for the post college admission essay which the student can expound on and this will become a good starting point or guideline for the post college admission essay, including MBA essays.

In many instances, however, the student is left to fend for himself, where the admission essay questions posed are very general and open. In such cases, the applicant is left in the dark, not having an ounce of an idea on what to write about in his post college admission essay, including MBA essays.

In very simple terms, a post college admission essay including MBA essays, should tell a basic picture of yourself. It should be able to present a clear and definite description of you as a person, including the things that you love to do, the things that make you laugh or cry, your experiences at home, at school, in your local church, fun and adventure with friends, basically the things that make you who you are at the present moment, which in turn convey to the reader (admission officer) why you are good candidate for admission to their graduate program.

However, a very important aspect that should never be absent in any post college admission essay including MBA essays, is a precise and detailed narrative of a candidate’s academic experiences. More specifically, it should be able to express in genuine terms accounts of how the candidate was able to obtain good grades in certain subject areas that are considered as major subjects in the course he is taking up. At the same time, don’t avoid addressing weaker grades or negative marks. Face them head on and provide a good and logical explanation in the post college admission essay, including MBA essays.

Let us suppose, for example, that a student has finished his undergraduate studies in journalism and wants to take up a master degree in the same field with specialization in literary criticism. In his post college admission essay, he can detail an experience in one college subject where the teacher asked them to produce three short stories by the end of the semester. Since literature has always been his favorite subject, the student was able to meet the requirement early and was even able to receive a high grade from his teacher at the end of the course.

The sample given above is just one of the many ways by which a candidate can elaborate on the concept of presenting specific accounts on how he fared in his major field of concentration as expressed in his post college admission essay, including MBA essays.

Other related accounts can and should be given in post college admission essays to better persuade admissions officials that the applicant is well-versed in his field and has the required ability to pursue higher learning in the same. Needless to say, a student’s excellent grades on his major subjects denotes expertise and passion in his chosen field. It gives clear indications that the field he has decided to pursue is one that greatly interests him. As such, he is able to pour all his energy and efforts, and more so, his heart and soul into it, resulting in grades that are outstanding. Generally, this gives the admissions officer the feeling that the applicant is focused and driven to achieve in his chosen field of study.

Focusing on your field of concentration as a topic in your post college admission essay including MBA essays, is an effective way of convincing admissions officials that your application is worth giving due consideration because you showed focus and the desire to pursue your chosen field of study. More so, if in using such a topic in your post college admission essay including MBA essays, you are able to show specific instances in one or two subjects wherein you were able to excel.

The ACT is a national college admission examination that consists of subject area tests in English, mathematics, reading, and science with an optional writing exam.

The ACT includes 215 multiple-choice questions and takes approximately three hours and 30 minutes to complete with breaks (or just over four hours if taking the Writing Test). Actual testing time is two hours and 55 minutes (plus 30 minutes for the Writing Test).

ACT results are accepted by all U.S. colleges and universities. The basic registration fee includes score reports for up to four college choices for which a valid code is listed at time of registration.

The ACT can be an important factor in college education. Not only is it an important criteria for admission to most universities but some degree programs also use scores to determine admission. For these reasons it is important to prepare carefully before taking the exam.

The best preparation for the ACT is taking a solid high school program that includes courses in English, math, science, and social studies and taking your school work seriously.

But it’s also true that attitude, emotion, and physical state may influence performance. So start preparing early and know what to expect on the test day. Read all the information in the registration packet and take the complete practice test included.

On test day itself make sure to:

~ Carefully read the instructions on the cover of the test booklet.
~ Read the directions for each section carefully.
~ Read each question carefully.
~ Pace yourself—don’t spend too much time on a single passage or question.
~ Use a soft lead No. 2 pencil with a good eraser; do not use a mechanical pencil, ink pen or correction fluid.
~ Answer the easy questions first, then go back and answer the more difficult ones.
~ On difficult questions, eliminate as many incorrect answers as you can, then make an educated guess among those remaining.
~ Answer every question. Your scores on the multiple-choice tests are based on the number of questions you answer correctly. There is no penalty for guessing.
~ Review your work. If you finish a test before time is up, go back and check your work.
~ Mark your answers neatly. If you erase, erase completely and cleanly without smudging.
~ Do not mark or alter any ovals on a test or continue writing on the writing Test after time has been called or you will be disqualified from the exam.
~ You’ll have 30 minutes to read and think about the issue in the writing prompt, and to plan and write your essay. Do some planning before writing the essay. Carefully consider the prompt and make sure you understand it. Think of how best to organize the ideas in your essay. Use specific examples.

Preparing for the ACT is important for your college education and your future.
